"As a clinician, therapy is more than simply listening. It is the capacity to gently hold space, challenge, and uplift every soul who chooses to sit in the chair across from you. It is providing a space that envelops self- and other-perpetuated lies and negativity, blocks out the noise of the world, and promotes healing and growth. It is recognizing that we are both perfect and beautifully flawed individuals who are capable of change. It is always reminding you that the strongest thing you can do is to be vulnerable.”

Licensed Psychologist & Licensed Professional Counselor
Approach to Therapy
As a clinician, I am guided by an integrative, trauma-informed, client-centered theoretical underpinning with empirically supported accompanying theories. Additionally, I utilize a person-in-context framework tailored to individualized care. Ultimately, this means that I create and tailor a therapeutic approach specific to you, using a combination of conversational, talk therapy and researched based therapies to address your concerns. What we know about therapy from meta-analytic research is that having a supportive, trustworthy, nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship works, regardless of specific technique. My ultimate goal is to meet you where you are and encourage insight to help you unlock patterns, unpack trauma, navigate everyday human experiences like depression and anxiety, and empower you to be your ideal self.
Additionally, it is my belief that authenticity and growth are not mutually exclusive; you can be wonderful exactly as you are and, simultaneously, exhibit areas of growth. As your therapist, you can expect that I will support you, encourage you, celebrate with you, and challenge you to the fullest; it is not always butterflies and rainbows in my therapy office. Healing happens in the midst of discomfort, and I am not afraid to sit there with you.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
-Carl R. Rogers
Credentials & Qualifications
I obtained both my master's in counseling and doctorate in counseling psychology with a health psychology emphasis from the University of Houston. Over the past ten years, I have absorbed the knowledge of wonderful clinicians in a variety of settings, including Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAC), Houston Fire Department (HFD), Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD), Lonestar Circle of Care (LSCC), and Krist Samaritan Counseling Center. More recently, I completed my pre-doctoral internship at South Texas Veteran’s Health Care System in San Antonio, TX. I am currently a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas.
With just this brief overview, my hope is that you are noticing that I consistently sought out diverse training experiences that have varied widely in terms of populations including Veterans, firefighters, justice-involved youth, and the marginalized and disadvantaged. This combination of trainings highlights my skillset as a trauma-informed, broadly trained, and evidence-based generalist ready to meet you where you are.
Passion & Values
There is nothing sweeter, to me, than healing trauma and breaking chains. My passion, knowledge, understanding, and trainings lend me to identify as a trauma psychologist. I have trained in the gold-standard CAPS-5 to effectively diagnose PTSD and have earned provider status in the three effective evidence-based treatments for PTSD: Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Written Exposure Therapy. Additionally, I have spent countless hours working alongside my clients to learn other approaches to trauma treatment, including Unified Protocol, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (similar to EMDR), COPE for comorbid PTSD and substance use, and somatic/physiological approaches. I am constantly looking for new approaches to treat trauma, as the trauma experience is unique to the individual. Further, I take a “big T” approach to trauma, which essentially means that I view trauma broadly with more flexible boundaries than what other professionals may describe as “trauma”. Trauma can be in places you may not even realize, whether seemingly mild or severe, so let’s explore, uncover, and unlearn.
Additionally, couples therapy sets my soul ablaze. Couples seeking to grow together is incredibly intimate and meaningful and I am honored when they trust my hands to gently hold and help them heal their covenant. Wherever you are in your relationship, we can tackle it together. For couples therapy, I have completed Level I and Level II Trainings in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and utilize Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work, alongside an Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) framework. Lastly, I have a longstanding therapeutic devotion to men with hypermasculine worldviews/careers (i.e. firefighters, Veterans, active duty, athletes, police). Real talk: toxic masculinity ain't it! There is nothing more electrifying than watching men go from uncertainty about therapy to complete acceptance.
Some of my values as a clinician are to provide a sense of trust despite being a part of systems that have historically perpetuated mistrust, reduce mental health stigma in hypermasculine populations, and challenge structural inequities and promote social justice. This means that I actively work to draw awareness to systemic racism and march toward social justice. This starts with me by breaking down mental health stigma amongst Black men and women. I know our granny's taught us we needed Jesus, but can I tell you something: we can have BOTH Jesus (if that's your belief) and therapy.
If I sound like I would be a good fit for you, let's talk! In order to encourage you toward the initiation of your therapy journey, I want to leave you with sandwiched-together sentiments from powerful people who have influenced my life (shameless shout out to Jesus, Michelle Obama, and Sarah Jakes Roberts): "'[Friend,] get up,' it's time for 'becoming.'"
*Also, just because I believe in Jesus, doesn't mean you have to. Let's chat.
We have a team of clinicians waiting to unlock the power of vulnerability within you; let's see if we're a good fit!
