"As a counselor, I am continually inspired by the beauty of human resilience and the transformative power of connection. Every individual carries within them the capacity for growth and healing, and my role is to help them uncover and nurture that inner strength."

Approach to Therapy
At the heart of my therapeutic approach lies empathy and postmodernism, which emphasizes the collaborative nature of the therapeutic relationship, where the client's expertise is valued, and their unique experiences are honored. This approach allows for the exploration of multiple perspectives and narratives, empowering clients to redefine their stories and find new meanings in their lives. I am committed to meeting clients where they are on their journey and tailoring therapy to their unique needs and preferences. Drawing from a diverse range of therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioral techniques, narrative therapy, mindfulness practices, and existential approaches, I strive to create a collaborative and inclusive therapeutic environment where clients feel supported, validated, and empowered to explore and address their concerns.
In addition to my foundational approach, I am dedicated to trauma-informed care. Recognizing the pervasive impact of trauma on individuals' lives, I am actively trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), specialized therapies proven to be highly effective in processing traumatic experiences and promoting healing.
My approach is also deeply culturally sensitive and considerate. I am bilingual and have experience providing counseling in both English and Spanish, allowing me to serve diverse communities with sensitivity and understanding. I have extensive experience working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, including Latinx, Blacks, Asians, and the LGBTQIA+ community. I recognize and honor the unique experiences and identities of each individual I work with, striving to create a safe and affirming space where all feel welcomed and valued.
"The problem is the problem, the person is not the problem."
- Michael White and David Epston
Credentials & Qualifications
My academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology, a discipline that opened my eyes to the rich tapestry of human experiences and the myriad of ways individuals navigate life's challenges. I, then, dedicated three years to serving as a behavioral therapist, honing my skills and gaining extensive knowledge in psychology. Driven by a deep-seated desire to support others on their path to well-being, I pursued a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently obtaining clinical hours as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas, supervised by Lacee Lovely, LPC-S.
Throughout my graduate studies at Sam Houston State University and in a private practice setting, I focused on trauma-informed care, particularly working with adolescents and young adults. These internships provided invaluable hands-on experience, allowing me to help individuals process their traumatic upbringing and reclaim agency over their futures. I am deeply committed to empowering clients to overcome adversity and cultivate resilience as they navigate their unique paths to healing and growth. This rigorous program provided me with a comprehensive understanding of psychological theories, therapeutic techniques, and ethical practices necessary to guide individuals towards healing and growth.
Passion & Values
Beyond my professional identity, I am an immigrant first-generation individual who had to teach herself a lot about how this country and society functions. This journey has deeply influenced my counseling style, as I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating cultural differences and societal norms. My experiences have taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and empathy in supporting individuals through life's transitions and challenges.
As a Christian, I hold values of love, compassion, and acceptance at the core of my practice. I believe that every individual is deserving of dignity, respect, and unconditional love, reflecting the boundless grace and compassion of God. My faith inspires me to approach counseling with humility, empathy, and a commitment to serving others with grace and kindness, regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. Through my work, I strive to create a therapeutic space where individuals can explore their deepest struggles and find healing, hope, and restoration in their journey towards wholeness.
