"I believe that life is not so much what happens to us, but how we respond to it."

Phil Conner, M.Ed., LPC Associate (He/Him)

Meet our clinicians

phil conner (he/Him) | Clinician

(Note: Phil is currently accepting clients and offering virtual and in person therapy).

"My goal is to develop trusting relationships with my clients rooted in empathy, respect, and validation of their unique journey in all stages. I believe that life is not so much what happens to us, but how we respond to it. I’m passionate about sitting alongside other humans in their seasons of confusion, overwhelm, loss, and pain. Because we often hold on to views or beliefs that may not be based in facts, but feelings that have run rampant, I’m ready to offer different perspectives when needed. Where there is trust and rapport established, clients can reframe their circumstance —  moving their gaze towards a path that empowers and offers the best version of self. ”

-Phil Conner, M.Ed. (He/Him)

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

*Supervised by Lona Snell, LPC-S

Approach to Therapy

I believe that that among our deepest of needs in the human experience is to be known and still accepted. Tell me —  when is the last time you felt truly seen? I follow a person-centered approach that encouraged me to see every client with fresh eyes, understanding that their lived experience is unique to them.

I strive to create a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable being themselves. My goal is to meet each client where they are and provide a safe space to explore the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be affecting their lives.

There’s not much I enjoy more than “the dance” that is the relationship between the client and therapist. My hope is that therapy feels far from clinical but like catching up with an old friend. My goal is to listen with compassion and care combined with evidence-based techniques that leave you better than I found you.

" Life’s a dance you learn as you go. "

-  John Michael Montgomery

Credentials & Qualifications

I hold a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas under the direct supervision of Lona Snell, LPC-S. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and grief support. I am experienced in trauma-informed therapy working with first responders and veterans. I am well versed in many theories and approaches but am especially passionate about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Passion & Values

I believe every set back is an opportunity- no matter how hopeless it feels. I believe I am called to serve as a “hope dealer”. As a therapist that knows his own great personal loss, I believe true growth comes through trials when we let it. My very relational approach to therapy means I practice within a framework held up by strong levels of empathy, compassion, and validation. I will be alongside you every step of the way as we work together and we will certainly stop and celebrate progress when necessary.

My faith drives my world view, and I respect all beliefs. Yours don’t have to be mine. Above all, I believe that seeking support is a sign of strength and growth does not have to happen alone. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply feel ready for something to change, I am committed to offering a compassionate, collaborative, and individualized counseling experience. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you as you navigate your journey, work through challenges, and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling and authentic.

If it sounds like I would be a good fit for you, let’s talk! As Dolly Parton said "The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain." I've got my rain boots and umbrella—  let's face it together.

*Also, just because I believe in Jesus, doesn't mean you have to. Let's chat.
