Routes to becoming with Arise Therapy

Provisionally Licensed Psychologist Supervision

Doctoral training prepares clinicians with strong foundations. Postdoctoral supervision is where many psychologists refine their voice and deepen their clinical thinking. Many emerging psychologists prefer to forego a formal postdoc in order to join the workforce, but need to supervision to practice under the Provisionally Licensed Psychologist license.

Postdoctoral supervision at Arise Therapy focuses on helping newly-licensed doctoral graduates transition into confident, independent psychologists.

Areas of focus may include:

  • advanced case conceptualization
  • navigating complex trauma presentations
  • ethical decision making in nuanced clinical situations
  • strengthening therapeutic presence
  • developing your professional identity as a psychologist
  • career next steps, including EPPP prep, navigating PsyPact designation, and career exploration

This supervision experience is designed for clinicians who want thoughtful mentorship as they step into the next phase of their professional journey.

LPC-ASSOCIATE CLINICAL SUPERVISION

Early career clinicians often discover that the transition from graduate training into real-world practice comes with both excitement and uncertainty.

Supervision provides a space to slow down, reflect, and refine your clinical approach.

LPC-Associate supervision at Arise Therapy includes support around:

  • case conceptualization and treatment planning
  • ethical and professional decision making
  • documentation and clinical feedback
  • navigating early career challenges
  • developing confidence in your therapeutic voice
  • expansion of your therapeutic toolbox

Supervision is offered through structured packages that combine individual supervision and group consultation.

MENTORSHIP FOR EMERGING CLINICIANS

Not everyone seeking guidance is currently accruing supervision hours.

Many students and early-career clinicians simply want insight into the profession—how to navigate training, develop specialties, and build a sustainable career in mental health.

Mentorship groups provide a space for:

  • graduate students exploring the field
  • clinicians preparing for licensure

Common topics include:

  • navigating graduate training and internships (both doctoral and master's level)
  • understanding licensure pathways
  • exam preparation discussion
  • exploring clinical specialties
  • preparing for the transition into professional practice

These groups create opportunities for thoughtful conversation, professional guidance, and connection with others who are walking similar paths.

Consultation for Practicing Clinicians

Even after licensure, many therapists discover that the work continues to evolve. Complex cases arise. Ethical questions emerge. Burnout can quietly creep in. And the responsibility of holding space for others often leaves little room for clinicians to reflect on their own process.

Professional consultation groups offer a space to pause, reflect, and think more deeply about the work.

These groups are designed for licensed clinicians who are actively practicing and seeking collegial consultation rather than formal supervision.

Together, we explore the nuances of clinical work through collaborative discussion, case consultation, and shared professional reflection.

Topics may include:

  • complex case consultation
  • ethical decision-making in real-world practice
  • navigating therapeutic impasses
  • therapist self-awareness and countertransference
  • sustaining longevity in the profession

Consultation groups create a community of thoughtful clinicians who value continued growth long after licensure.

Don't take it from us, take it from them.

At Arise Therapy, we believe that meaningful growth begins with the right relationship. Just as therapist-client alignment supports transformative therapeutic work, supervisor-supervisee alignment creates the foundation for intentional clinical development. Read reflections from former trainees:

Working under Dr. Kadija Moon at Arise Therapy was one of the most impactful experiences of my development as a therapist. Although she was not my designated LPC Supervisor, she consistently invested in my growth through mentorship, consultation, and training that far exceeded what I expected from a clinical director.

Dr. Moon has an exceptional ability to build both confidence and clinical competence. She created an environment where I felt safe asking questions, admitting uncertainty, and discussing difficult cases without fear of judgment. Whether I was feeling anxious about a challenging client, questioning my clinical judgment, or experiencing imposter syndrome, she always responded with empathy, encouragement, and practical guidance. She was consistently available to consult on cases, willing to observe sessions when appropriate, and eager to help me strengthen my clinical skills.

One of the qualities I admire most about Dr. Moon is her commitment to culturally responsive care. She helped me recognize that my own cultural experiences were not something to minimize but a meaningful strength that could deepen therapeutic relationships. She taught me how to thoughtfully integrate cultural humility and awareness into my work with clients from diverse backgrounds, an approach that continues to shape my practice today.

Her mentorship was highly individualized. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, she tailored her guidance to my strengths, learning style, and areas for growth. She was always willing to provide additional training, whether through Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, or practical discussions about working with complex cases and clients who initially felt outside my comfort zone.

What truly sets Dr. Moon apart is her authenticity. She is approachable, genuine, and deeply committed to social justice and equity. She models these values in the way she practices, supervises, and supports clinicians. Despite being my clinical director, she always prioritized me as a therapist and as a person, ensuring I had the support I needed both professionally and personally—even when it offered no direct benefit to the organization. That level of care is rare and speaks volumes about her integrity.

Dr. Moon embodies everything I would hope for in a supervisor: clinical expertise, cultural humility, accessibility, flexibility, warmth, and unwavering support. I recommend her without hesitation to any clinician seeking supervision or consultation. She is an extraordinary psychologist, mentor, and leader, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have learned from her.

-Naila Brown, LPC- Associate

I had the privilege of being supervised by Kadija Moon, Ph.D., M.Ed., during my internship and time as an associate therapist. From the start, Dr. Moon made space for my perspective and voice with clients, rather than expecting me to simply mirror her approach. She invited me to co-facilitate a therapy group with her and treated me as an equal collaborator, not just a trainee. Learning about her work with couples taught me so much about how to navigate the room with two people in therapy, reading the dynamic between them and staying attuned to both at once.

One of the things that stood out to me the most is that the person-centered approach she brings to her clinical work is the same approach she brings to supervision. She empowers her supervisees' ideas rather than dictating her own, and she pushed me to think critically about ethics and boundaries in ways that will stay with me throughout my career. Dr. Moon also encouraged me to advocate for my own needs as a provider. She taught me that good clinical work depends on clinicians who honor their own boundaries and protect their wellbeing.

Dr. Moon is the kind of supervisor who makes the people she trains better clinicians and stronger advocates for themselves. I'm deeply grateful for her mentorship.

-Aliza Sotelo, LMFT Associate

Dr. Moon has been an excellent supervisor. I have felt both supported, challenged and like a valuable member of the treatment team. My voice was always heard and the best was done to always point me in a helpful direction. This supervision experience allowed for a space of clinical skills development as well as an area to process my reactions and perspectives on cases.

Dr. Moon has always provided helpful guidance and a space to reflect, especially during complex cases. Because of Dr. Moon I feel comfortable and safe to process my feelings and thoughts and have a higher level of confidence and competence. I am a better clinician because of her support and compassion and I have been able to see myself grow in terms of therapeutic skills and overall confidence.
